Tax Preparation

In addition to general income (wages and interest), Eric handles other tax issues including but not limited to small business income, rentals, sale of real property, parents of minors who are separated or divorced, decedents, virtual currency, out of state income, Philadelphia income tax, and moving (within the same state or out of state).

When paying for tax preparation, the perfect scenario consists of 2 things – (1) you are happy with the results of the returns and (2) you don’t receive a letter from a tax authority about the returns in the future.

Since both parties want a smooth process, it is essential that you supply all pertinent information. This includes all tax documents as well as information on whether you have any outstanding balances owed to tax authorities or not. Doing so will enable Eric to provide you with the best advice on how to move forward.

Eric also prepares tax returns for people whose primary residence is outside of Pennsylvania. If you’re not local, don’t let that stop you from contacting him! There is an additional, small fee if your primary residence is outside of Pennsylvania, but there are good reasons why his out-of-state clients return to him for tax preparation.

Pricing

Discounts are given to parties bringing in multiple returns for preparation!

Payment options include cash, check, credit card, Venmo, and Zelle.

The purpose of providing this information is to provide general information regarding pricing. Be mindful that it is impossible to provide an exact, final price for a new client over the phone or by email. While rough estimates may be given, it is only when the tax returns are completed that the final price is determined.

The base fee begins with the filing status of the federal tax return and includes the following:

  • The 3 income tax returns required for most PA residents (Federal, PA, PA local).
  • Up to four income documents for each person - the primary and secondary taxpayers (8 documents for a joint return) including but not limited to wages, unemployment, interest, and most retirement income documents.

Filing Status

  • Single or Married Filling Separate
  • Head of Household / Qualifying Widow(er)
  • Married Filing Joint
  • Each dependent is an additional $25.

Price

  • $230
  • $250
  • $270

Other factors in determining the final cost include:

  • The forms or schedules used
  • The amount of time needed to complete and finalize the returns. This includes communications prior to completion of the returns and unwarranted delays.
  • Pricing For Seniors

    • Seniors receive $70 off the filing statuses listed above.
    • Primary or secondary taxpayers (not dependents) must be over 65 as of December 31 of the tax year.
    • No additional fee for Form SSA-1099 (Social Security tax statement).
    • Additional fees apply when preparing the PA local tax return or the PA property tax rebate form.

Problems with Tax Authorities Including Balances Owed and Letters

Taxes By Eric is a NO-JUDGEMENT ZONE!

Many people are behind on filing taxes (you’re not alone if you are). If you need help in getting caught up, or with any income tax related letter or issue, you should contact Eric. He previously worked for the IRS and knows the system. He uses this experience to do what is best for YOU!

Because of the format of certain letters, the average person may find it difficult to fully understand letters issued by tax authorities, including the IRS. It is for this reason that you may want to seek assistance from a professional to know your options. When an existing Taxes By Eric client receives a letter from a tax authority, they receive a free consultation for that letter even when the tax return was prepared elsewhere.
